Dr. Saturnino P. Javier has always been an achiever. Besides graduatingÌýMagna cum LaudeÌýin his bachelor’s degree, he was an active student and even became Varsitarian’s Editor-in-Chief in 1980. He took up Medicine and continued his medical journey at UST Hospital, where he became the Chief Resident of the Internal Medicine department. His excellent rating landed him in a fellowship program in Adult Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology & Intravascular Ultrasonography in Washington D.C., USA. Despite the greener pasture awaiting him abroad, he chose to pack up his bag and use expertise in his homeland.

He practiced interventional cardiology in Makati Medical Center and Asian Hospital & Medical Center and devoted his time to continuing medical education through out-of-town lectures, colloquia, post-graduate courses, conferences, and symposia. His commitment to the cause made him an active participant in improving the status of medical practice and education in the Philippines. He also spearheaded the establishment of the Philippine Health Research Ethics Networks and headed the Institutional Review Board of Makati Medical Center.

Dr. Javier is currently the Medical Director of the Makati Medical Center and has won various awards. In 2020, he was awardedÌýGawad Bayani ng KalusuganÌýby the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
